Interview with Ryan Starr

CB: Ryan, you’re a rocker, what attracted you to the reality stars calendar project two years in a row?
Ryan: I chose to do the calendar two years in a row because it was so much fun the first time. The girls were really great and the photo shoot was fun. I think in all honesty its kinda fun to be able to say you were in a swimsuit calendar. That's definetly something to be excited about. When I'm an old lady I will look back and remember the good old days when i could wear a two piece. Haha
CB: Were they any memorable moments from the calendar shoot?
Ryan: The most memorable moment for me was probably when I was shooting the cover. The way they had positioned me for the shot, I couldnt see anything. I was blinded by the sun. It was horrible. Everyone was laughing because I couldnt get my eyes to open. The photographer was trying to get me to be serious, but I couldnt stop laughing! It was really funny. We ended getting my eyes to open later, so we got our shot after all.
CB: You may be best known for American Idol" where over 40 million people saw you. What is the biggest misconception that people have about you, and what is the truth?
Ryan: The biggest misconception about me is probably that I am a pop singer. A lot of people judge "American Idol" contestants as pop acts; but, unfortuanetly, I did not know that it was going to be so big (I was on the very first season). If i had known it was going to make everyone think of me as a pop singer for so long, I would have definetly handled the situation differently. But everything happens for a reason, and I am still very greatful for my opprtunities.
CB: What have you been working on recently? Where can people see you? I heard a rumor of a tour soon.
Ryan: I am always writting and recording. Hopefully this will be my year for music. I am doing a couple of fun shows while I have the time. I am also in the process of designing a rock n roll swimsuit line called "chained" and we hope to have it out early next year. I am also hoping to go on tour in China in Feb of '06, if things work out musically of course. I will be on Bravo's new show, "Battle of the Network Reality Stars," starting August 17th and every wed at 9pm. I am also going to be a celebrity sideline host for the 2006 Lingerie Bowl along side Jenny Mc Carthy on payperview set to air during half-time of the Superbowl. At the present, I am filming a show for MTV set to air middle of next year -- around march.
CB: What are your passions other than music?
Ryan: At the moment my other passion other than music is surfing. I try to go almost everyday. Other than that, music is my life, and I live through it daily.
CB: Are you single and what do you look for in a relationship?
Ryan: At the moment I am single. I look for a lot in relationships. They mean a lot to me and I put my whole heart and soul into them so I expect that in return. I look for guys that are genuine and sweet. I also look for common interests. Basically, I look for a person who could be my best friend and that i am also attracted to. That's what a good realtionship is. Your boyfriend or husband should be your best friend as well as the man you love.
CB: Tell us something about Ryan that we don't know, some deep, dark secret to muse on.
Ryan: Ooohhh a deep dark secret......sorry cant give that up. That' s why its a deep dark secret and i intend to keep it that way. Sorry ....hehe
